My Dog

Hi! Today I am going to tell you a little bit about how I got my fur producer. Er! I mean my dog and I’ll tell a few stories about him.

My dog is a black labrador. He is almost 4 years old. His birthday is in November. My family got him while we were living in California. When we got him, we learned that over his small life, he had a couple names. When he was born, the person that helped out with the dogs named him Carlos. Then, a family adopted him and named him Carson. But…. they sadly returned him because… his ears were too big. I’m sorry. I find dogs with big ears cuter than dogs with small ears. Nevermind. It’s their loss. They’re going to get a stink eye from him one day. Dissapointment from cute pups is heartbreaking.

After we adopted him, we named him Drogon. My mom loved the name Drogon because she LOVES the episodes of  The Game of Thrones. The biggest, oldest, strongest, and smartest dragon is Drogon. Although…. I’m not so sure that my dog is that smart (I’ve seen him try to lick peanut butter on the wrong side of the window).

When I first got Drogon, I was EXTREMELY scared of dogs. I was afraid that they were going to bite me. He did do that…… but he was teething. After about 1 month, I got used to being around him and he calmed down after being trained.

As a kid, me and my brother had a sandbox sort of playground. There was a slide on it. Since I was super small, I remember my brother trying to teach me to climb up the slide. The slide was metal and flat. I could never climb up it until…….. my dog chased me and I ran up it. So I guess dogs teach you how to run up slides.

On the first day that we got him, we had to introduce him to our backyard so that he could do his business. He fell into our pool and was yelping for help. My brother (the hero) jumped in and saved him. Ever since, he has never gone into a simgle pool and thinks that whoever comes out of the pool is a water monster. But he is completely fine with jumping and splashing around in the dirty water in creeks and rivers.

I love my dog so much and I’m excited to live my life and childhood with him. He is the best companion I could ever find with his cheerful spirit and puppy eyes. Thank you so much for coming into my life and being my best friend.

Gymnastics

Hi! Today I’m going to tell you a little bit about my journey with gymnastics!

(Picture taken by my classmate – Kellan)

I startes when I was in kindergarden. I was living in California at that time.

Who was crucial throughout my gymnastics journey?  It was wonderful to meet new coaches and teamates because the teamates you have now, are not going to be the same forever. Sometimes you can get really sad because you have been with these people for about a year at a time. And then you get brand new teamates. The same things happen with coaches because each time you level up, you get new teamates and maybe even new coaches. But sometimes, you don’t level up. That means that all your teamates and friends can go to the higher level, while you are in the same level with new teamates. After a while, it doesn’t really matter becasue you still have a chance to see everyone most of the time.

Why do I love love gymanstics? I love gymnastics because it’s always cool to be able to do tricks that will leave your friends’ jaws wide open. But also that I get to experience different events. On floor, I get a wide and vast space that I can dance, run, flip, and tumble on. On bars, I get to hang onto bars and jump from one to another. Also, hanging on bars and monkey bars has always been my inner child’s dreams. On beam, I get to face my fear of falling off and that makes me and my teamates laugh. Each time I fall, I am able to get back up again until I try and get my skills right. On vault, I get to run straight into the fan’s whooshing air, and then jump to flip over a table.

My favorite experiences are…

1. No matter how much I fall down, I can get back up and try until I make my skills. This teaches people that you can achieve your goal if you keep trying!

2. The excitment and adrenaline you get when running and flipping into the air!

3. Trampolines! (No explaination needed)

I am so grateful for my friend because she is the one who inspired me and pushed me to start gymnastics and I love it so much!

Thank you so much for reading this! If you don’t play or do a sport, I strongly encourage it because it is so much fun and teaches you LIFE skills!

My Summer Reading

Hi! Today I’m going to talk about my summer reading for my L.A. class. We did a few project for th ebook book we read. The book we read was Finding Someplace. This book was written by Denise Lewis Patrick.

(Picture taken by me – Kashish)

One project we did was we called our Backpack Project. It’s is related to our summer reading book because in the book, Reesie Boone has to evacuate for the hurricane and she has to take important and sentimental items with her. This project made us draw the items we would want to take in one backpack (like Reesie) if we had to evacuate.

Another project we did was called our Hero Essay. Our Hero Essays were about who we thought was the hero in the book Finding Someplace by Denise Lewis Patrick. I wrote about the old next door neighbor, Ms. Martine. What I loved about this project was that there was no right answer other than including your reasoning. We were allowed to be creative and have fun. It actually taught me that I should probably think a little more and maybe even write down some notes about the thoughts I have about future books and storyies I read. I am going to write my Hero Essay down below in another paragragh if you want to read it.

I think that Ms. Martine is the hero of Finding Someplace. I feel like this because she has inspired Reesie with her books. It showed Reesie that Ms. Martine is a very exceptional woman with all the accomplishments that she has made. Reesie also learned from her that she is a very caring person by letting Reesie stay in her house until her father could come and pick her up. The book also states that Ms. Martine loves to tend to her garden which is a productive activity and she helps her community by baking tasty treats for them. Ms. Martine is very brave and phenomenal by staying calm and making sure that Reesie was feeling as safe and comfortable as she can. That is why I feel that Ms. Simone Martine is the hero of the book Finding Someplace. Overall, I think that Ms. Martine is a good role model to all young children because she is always on the hunt to spread kindness or inspire another person.

That is my essay and I hope you liked the projects about our summer reading. Thank you.

Camp Kirkwood Trip

Hi! This post, I’m going to be talking about the 6th Grade Camp Kirkwood  trip. It was a great start to the school year.

(Taken by teachers\supervisors at Camp Kirkwood campus)

This picture was taken in the mess hall while we were watching the Lorax.

First of all, we had a lot of fun and this was a great experience. We had so many activities that include teamwork building, swimming in the pool, ziplining over the lake, canoeing, and the Kanga Jump (a giant trampoline).

Second, I’d like to thank the Camp Kirkwood counselers. They made sure that we had a fun time there, despite the weather which was a big challenge. There was a big storm coming our way during our visit there. They had to cancel some activities, but we had a lot of fun.

Third, I’d like to talk about the experience away from home. I’m sure that many people were a little homesick, including myself. We stayed there for 2 nights! We had a lot of fun and I just have to say that I enjoyed spending time with my friends. I finally got to experience what having sisters is like. I loved how I could share things and feel like I was welcome in my cabin when I was with my friends. We talked and laughed a lot together. We even walked in the dark to get s’mores one night. They were delicous.

Finally, I want to mention that I loved this trip and I can’t wait to see what we do in the future, together, as a family with my friends.
